it's Elmo's world
gonna be a slow build, but I've only had this Jeep since January and I'm starting from scratch.
Long story short, I bought a TJ Rubi back in 2011 and built it up. Then I met my first LJ and knew I had to have one. After years of searching and saving (hard to do when you're already building a Jeep), I was digging around on Craigslist back in November 2013 and found this little beauty. Actual Craigslist ad pic:
it haunted my thoughts and I had to go look at it, even though it was over 200 miles away. Boyfriend and his dad took a road trip to check it out. It was absolutely gorgeous. They looked it over crawled underneath and said "oh, you're taking this thing home!". Barely a scratch in the paint and only a cracked windshield (I know a glass guy, so no biggie). Previous owner was having title issues that took several months to straighten out but I brought it home in January
first thing on was a Rough Country stubby winch bumper. I already had a 12K Smitty winch:
next up some armor. Couldn't afford a lift yet, but still needed some protection
Solid diff covers
front one was banging on the trac bar so had to notch it with dremel
still hitting and I couldn't take any more off, so I threw a guard on the front diff and have to wait for a lift :(
next up: oil pan skid (Teraflex). I knew I needed one because that's the first thing I ever smashed on my TJ, LOL
then I took it wheeling on a group run with my local Jeep club
I had bought some Poison Spyder corner guards from another guy building an LJ that couldn't use them, but couldn't get them on in time for the run :(
that's pretty much it for mechanical stuff. Other than that, I've added some red accents to the interior as well. steering wheel cover, seat covers, red grab handles, neoprene door handle thingy grips. In the seat are some red-ringed LED lights I bought last weekend and haven't installed yet...but I will.
hopefully more to come, but it's one of 3 Jeeps here at the house so something else always needs attention too, LOLLast edited by EllJay05; 08-26-2014 at 04:10 PM.

Re: it's Elmo's world
That's the only full top I have! I gave up on finding a softie and frame and went straight to safari and tonneau cover, LOL

Re: it's Elmo's world
The rubi looks about exactly like mine when I got it. almost the exact same tires....everything.
Let me know if you still looking for a LJ used softop. I usually have some take off ones from conversions we do.
Also.. these make really nice solutions to using a safari top too.

Re: it's Elmo's world
i already have a RainGear cover and I love it! pretty sure that shipping a softie and a frame from SC to Tenn would be a bit pricey. I could have gotten one for $300 a month or so ago but I just didn't have the extra funding at the time :(

Re: it's Elmo's world
got my seat risers put in last night. I'm still going to have to sit on a pillow for wheelin' though, LOL.

Re: it's Elmo's world
minor upgrade today: added in-cab winch control and covered kill switch for it so it won't get accidentally bumped. I've never had it happen but my father-in-law said it was a good idea and we already had the dash apart, so why not?

Re: it's Elmo's world
The guy I bought them from couldn't use them because he had different rear flares that didn't line up. I'll keep them until I have the same problem.

Body lift installed. Next up, frame-mounted sliders :)

Re: it's Elmo's world
Frame mounted sliders installed, but I need to repaint them, as they wren't completely dry when they installed them. Fingerprints, grrrrr! I know tub-mounted sliders are sturdier, but I'm short and won't be able to step that high when this baby finally gets lifted, LOL
Also bought these on ebay for possible future installation. Need seats and harness bar first and they're not at the top of the to-do list.
