Big Max and the Kaufman

THE TRUCK:
Big Max the 2012 Silverado 3500 4x4 crew cab dually Duramax dually. He's got a big butt but is a hoss on the highway! Found him a few months ago after being tired of dealing with years of crappy Dodge transmissions.

THE TRAILER:
Kaufman 35-footer I found for sale by the side of the road. No more borrowing big trailers or taking 2 trucks to go wheelin with both Jeeps!

Working on making it a mobile work platform for club group rides. Being a car hauler, it's perfect for working underneath rigs because you can sit on one of the crossmembers and not have to lay on your back. First up was fresh paint. Black is boring!

Also have seperate battery that recharges when plugged into truck, and LED lights to aid in nighttime loading or working. (The straps were only hanging there to dry after washing)

Moved spare tire mounts to the rear to get them out of the way:

it's always going to be a work in progress, but isn't everything? I love it as it is, and you can plainly see it has plenty of room for hauling toys:

Haven't done anything to the trailer lately, but Max has gotten a few upgrades:
first up some nFab side steps. Scratch and dent from 4WheelParts. $150

next up a headache rack, some LED cubes (facing back) and 50-inch light bar (facing forward). Wanted some extra lighting, but didn't really wanna drill holes in the cab of the truck for the light bar.

I'll have to get some night pics tonight. This truck is quite often hauling a trailer full of rock buggies through dusty, unlit, offroad parking lots at night. The extra light is definitely needed.

Next planned mod is a small bull bar, 20 inch LED bar, and a winch. We'll see where it goes from there!

The Kaufman didn't come with ramps. The deck is pretty low in the back, but there have been a few times when we needed to load dead (or smaller) vehicles on it that couldn't power themselves up over the lip. Fabbed up some homemade ramps and decided to put them in the middle section of the deck, since we don't always have room to pull them straight out of the stock slots. Plus the bottom of the deck gets pretty banged up in the back. They fit nice and snug in this little cubbyhole, but we're gonna put a post in the crossbar and a hole in each ramp just to keep them from sliding around too much.

also added in a few more D-rings because you can never have enough tie down points. We haul all sorts of things, from ATV's to rock bouncer buggies on this thing, so multiple anchor points are always a plus.

nice! i'm in love with the trailer. i'd love to have a tow rig. my jeep should be trailer-ed now..

Every time we take this trailer anywhere someone tries to buy it. We're near Birmingham Alabama at a rock bouncer event and it carried a Willys Jeep, a full sized rock buggy, and a Polaris side x side and still had room to spare.

Big Max actually drives better with a trailer behind him than when he's solo. I guess it's this heavy duty suspension.

this is what I love about a gooseneck. We parked the trailer on Thursday morning and pretty much ignored it after that. Came to move it on Sunday morning, only to find that someone had parked their camper and flatbed right in front of it at some point during the weekend. We came at it at a 90 degree angle and hooked right up.
