    Angry Unkown noise from drivetrain?

Have an '06 rubi unlimited, with a 3.5-4'' lift. Ever since the wife and I have owned it over the past 4 years, Ive noticed this clunking noise everytime I press in and let off on the clutch. If I operate the clutch smoothly at a moderate RPM it shifts smoothly and you cannot feel it in the pedals. Did a quick shake down, inspected drivelines, pulled the rear diff cover and the ring and pinion looks great(62k on it). T-case/tranny and skid plate all appear to be tight as they should. I am at a loss.

Anything I am missing or could look for?

Does it happen when you start from a stop (i.e. not moving) as well as when you're driving?

What about motor mounts? Could be shot motor mounts that are letting the drivetrain shift under sudden application of engine torque. If you're smooth with it, there's not enough torque at once to make the mounts bang around. Have someone watch the engine while you engage the clutch quickly in the driveway, I bet you see the whole engine shift to the side.

I had to replace mine not too long back, did them when I put on a Borla header. Used a HD M.O.R.E. set with a little engine lift built in to go with my body lift.

Never thought of looking at the motor mounts but it definitely could be the source. Ill check it out this weekend and let you know what I come up with.

It could also be the transmission mount, but with the age, motor mounts are likely too.

Also, if you do change the motor mounts and go with polyurethane, don't forget to swap the tranny mount out for poly too. Doing one without the other puts more strain on the stock one.
